• Do not chew on the treated side until the anesthesia wears off (2-4 hours).
• Mild sensitivity to cold, heat or biting is normal for 3-7 days.
• Take the prescribed pain medication for the first 48-72 hours even if pain is mild.
• Avoid very hard or sticky foods for the first 2-3 days.
• If a temporary filling was placed, do not floss that area until the final restoration.
• Contact the clinic if pain increases after day 3, swelling appears or you have fever.

Between appointments:

• Mild to moderate discomfort the first 2-3 days is normal.
• Take antibiotics exactly as prescribed.
• Avoid chewing on that side and do not floss the treated tooth.
• If the temporary filling falls out or the tooth feels “high”, contact us.

After final filling:

• Same instructions as vital endodontics.
• The tooth becomes more fragile – an endopost + crown or endocrown is recommended as soon as possible.

• Brush and floss normally (pull the floss carefully outward).
• If the bite feels “high”, contact us immediately for an adjustment.

• Mild to moderate discomfort for 2-4 days.
• Cold sensitivity is common for 1-2 weeks.
• Brush with a soft toothbrush and use the prescribed rinse or gel.

Open curettage:

• All of the above + ice, rest, no smoking and soft diet.
• Do not lift the lip or inspect the wound.
• Suture removal as indicated (7-14 days).

• Avoid hot foods while still numb.
• Be careful not to bite your lip or cheek.

Children:

• Watch carefully so they do not bite their lip, cheek or tongue.
• Offer only cool or lukewarm soft foods until sensation returns.
• Explain that the “magic” is still there and they must not bite themselves.

Adultos:
